OK, just so ya know I am still alive. I'm just sitting here waiting to die. Nothing happening. No one calls. No one cares. So, neither do I.

How often have you heard people say that they missed a family member because that member thought another member of the family had done an imaginary slight to them? Feelings get hurt and all the family suffers because of one member because of a misunderstanding? It has happened in my family so many times and now the tears flow for the family member who is stuck in the middle. So many times I wonder why things happen and why someone who is a good person is made to suffer? Why is it that pride brings down a family member? What is the lesson that God had for this family member? He has never learned that lesson even after many, many times and the loss of friends and family. I would say I feel sorry for that member but in truth I pity him for the manner he has managed to wreck not only his immediate family but also other family member's lives.
Years ago I told my husband he was doing me no favors moving back to this area. And that has proved to be true over and over. I hate living here for many reasons but I think our lives would have been better in another area, like they say in another time and place.
Blogs are great for getting things off your mind, some times.

New to us is the idea of actually going some place exciting besides downtown Titusville. Had I known I was going to spend my life in this non-town I would have moved long ago. I want to be buried in the mountains. Because if I have to spend my living life here in this non-city, I certainly don't want to spend eternity here too!. I moved to Daytona to get away from here and what happened??? My husband moved me right back here just around the corner from where I left!! I can't catch a break! We moved to Texas...YEA!!... and 2 years later, my husband moved me right back here!! I can not catch a break! Why my classmates are retiring and moving back here is a mystery to me. If you've lived somewhere else and made a life there ...WHY???.... would you move back to this non-town? Needless to say I really don't like living here.

Out to see the sights with Carey!
It sure is cool this morning. Glad we are near the coast so it didn't frost on our car. My car doesn't know what frost is and has never seen a flake of snow. I don't want to traumatize it yanno! This has been a wild trip. I will be doing reviews of the campgrounds we stayed in this time. Some are good and some just didn't make the cut. That means we won't be going back again. Fool me once and I don't go back.
Also, got my hair done yesterday and she charged me $25 just to wash and blow dry my hair. Of course, she knew we were just visiting and probably wouldn't be back. Gotta watch these people! From now on I will be saying we are moving close by so they don't peg me as easy...LOL... Everyone knows how easy I am!! ROFL
The park we are in now is the same one we stayed in 2 yrs ago. Different people here now and not nearly as nice as the other couple. Basically Rick was told to make a reservation next time or don't bother coming back. No wonder the people were leaving outta here in droves the next day. First, the lady told Rick she didn't have any spaces so Rick says not a problem. I'll go somewhere else. Suddenly she found a space for us near the pool, as if we will swim in this weather! But we have some interesting neighbors here. All types of people and breeds of dog in this park. More small pit bulls are walked around here than I usually see in parks. The only downside is their lack of training and they need training when around other dogs.
I noticed coming into the park they had a welcome sign out for the snowbirds. I was surprised that people would winter here but then I'm used to seeing so many "up north" people staying in FL over the winter that I think they ALL come to FL or AZ....lol... I say come on down, bring plenty of money and leave early!!...lol
I better get ready now. My ride will be here soon and I need to collect my gear! See ya next time with more news!

Never enough time for all the fun...
I finally have access to the internet again. So, I will be filling in some of the things we did during the down time in the next few entries. In the meantime, as soon as we crossed the South Carolina state line I started sneezing and had a full blown allergy attack. My first since we left FL. I guess the low country disagrees with me...lol... Rick said do you want me to take you back to Rhonda's? Of course, I said YES!! It may be cold there but at least I don't have any allergies! OK. I'll finish this tomorrow when I am more awake!...lol

Tired tired tired tonight! Everything we did turned to poop! aarrrggghhhh!! So first we had to change plans because Rick only wants to be gone a week. I thought we were going for 2 weeks. Obviously we traveled on different wave lengths when discussing this vacation. I'm not going to make it to the mountains to see the fall leaves nor to the winery which was my goal to begin with. I even thought we might see my great aunt Mary. That ain't gonna happen either. So, here we are stuck in an RV park in Santee that advertised one price but changed it when Rick went in to pay for the site. It has no cable and ya'll know I can't miss Dancing With The Stars!! So we tried the regular TV and just as DWTS was over Rick figured out how to get the TV to stay on channel. One of us asked that the antenna be rotated to start with, not mentioning any names.
I am hoping that tomorrow is better. We are going to see my niece, Rhonda. I am expecting some awesome coffee from their new coffee maker. And maybe a side trip to some place cool!
Then we are off to visit my long time friend who is like a brother to me, Carey. He promised us a grand tour of Charleston and Rick is excited about it. I'm thinking it is time to post this entry and hit the bed. Like I said it was an awful day! Say a prayer that tomorrow is better!

Our second day on the road.We are camped in Fair Harbor in Perry GA. A very nice campground to stay in and go sightseeing which is what we did this afternoon. Found a place called Lane Orchards. Yummmm... clobber and ice cream! Much better than the place we saw driving up here yesterday! We saw a sign that said..#1 Spa...  and the next sign said... Drive thru sushi! My kid says... Great! Sex and dinner in just 2 stops!....LOL.... This should be a fun trip if I can ever get rested up. More to come later as we continue our trip north. Sleep tight peeps!...LOL

Veteran's Day 2011

I'm hanging with my Vet today! He got up early and walked the bridge with our daughter. Then.....bless his heart....he came home and fixed brunch for us. Now, we are sitting here playing on the computers and listening to the road shakers at work. I am sure they will shake my home off its foundation!! We've lived in the same place for 36 years and they finally decided to surprise us with a "new road". When we got home from the last rv'ing trip we had a dirt road in place of the asphalt one we had when we left home. SURPRISE!! Just what I needed to see as a welcome home gift. I should be grateful but after so many years, why did they wait so long???.... Oh, wait!! I know why!! They ran out of road work to do in south Brevard County so ...FINALLY.... We poor North Brevardians are on the receiving end of this great road work. Can you tell I am excited? Oh well, when you retire life, throws you many surprises that you can do without....LOL...
Time to go take my Vet for a ride. Lots of places are giving away free lunches to the Vets and I want to make sure he gets his just desserts! Gotta love him...he is mine!

A time to reflect on things

We made it back home and as usual I got busy and didn't do the blog. I had such a hard time with a wifi connection in the campgrounds that I couldn't even write on the blog most days. Disappointing for me cause its nice to go back and remember the little things you forget. I'm not much of a writer it seems. I do better when writing fiction stories than real life stories. I need to expand and re-do my fiction site. Maybe write some more stories for kids.
I want to take a moment and tell you about how much God has given me in life. I have 2 great kids but you all knew that because I say it often. My husband tho..... I can never say enough good things about him. He is my life and my love. He has been and continues to be the best friend I ever had.... just took me a little longer to understand that fact than it takes most people. I can be slow but that is because I am a Scorpio and they are stubborn people. My Mother called me this morning talking about him. She calls him her angel. She says she thought Rick could do anything and she has ask him to do just about everything! Someone knocked down her mailbox. We went Sunday to get a new post and new mailbox for her. He installed it this morning and she is just thrilled. It takes so little to excite an 87 yr old lady sometimes! She says she is going to make him a cake. He will be pleased cause he likes to eat. He fits in our family real good. A family friend told my sister once that our family was the only one he knew that made eating a sport! That happens when you have great cooks in the family.
My love just came in and told me what our plans were for today. He has us a trip scheduled and he wants me to go with him. Gotta love a man that looks out for your well being. He said we'd go after we have some lunch! Whatta sport!

Museum visit.

I didn't write anything about yesterday's museum visit. We went to the Tobacco Farm Life Museum in Kenly, NC. It was a very interesting tour. Rick saw all the old farm equipment. And there were buildings that were modeled on farm life in NC back when tobacco was king. The life was hard but the people built a life for themselves and their families. We didn't do much else because it was supposed to rain so we came back to the RV. Tomorrow is laundry day. We were going to do laundry today but opted to spend the time with Rhonda. She took us to a great little place for hots and fries. The food was wonderful.
Wow! The wind is really blowing tonight and sounds scary but so far we haven't moved much in the RV. Rick is already in bed snoring so he isn't scared abit....LOL

Life in the next lane!

Spent a lovely day today with my beautiful niece, Rhonda. We tour several shops and I would have toured more of the Pottery Barn but Rick thought we needed to get her home to her family. So off we went to her home and we waited till Jarred got home from college so we could see him. He has grown up so much and of course Ally was there. She had a little drama today at school. Mom to the rescue and will take care of it. We missed seeing Chris as he was still working when we left. What a nice family they are and it was good to be with them for a few days.

In Smithfield NC

Up at the crack of dawn this morning...wellll....8am is very early for me. We had loaded the tow last night so it was easy breezy this morning getting ready to leave. We left about 10 am and drove up I-95 looking for the Smithfield KOA. Ursa certainly didn't have a clue...lol...So we pulled off and called the place and found out we were about 300 yrds from the entrance...lol....talk about luck! Nice park here. Free cable and wifi a bit more expensive than the last place but worth it. And much cheaper than a motel.
We called my niece Rhonda and she and her daughter Ally came to lead us to their home. She lost us at a traffic light. So we called and talked our way till we caught up with her. She took us the back way and I was sure we'd get lost coming back but Ursa led us back to the old rv stable.
Now about that home...it is beautiful. I know now why Rhonda only weighs 100 lbs....she looses weight keeping that house clean. It is big and lovely and just fits them to a tee. Zander their dog is just too cute and demanding as are only dogs in a family. We played ball and chased bubbles and barked a little to heighten the fun! Then we had supper....yummmm....cabbage rolls and mashed tators and dessert....yummmm.... We took some wine, had a drink before supper. I took the candy so they could have a taste of Mom's cooking. Her Mom, who is my sister, is an awesome cook. She taught her daughter very well!! After that great dinner, we came back to the RV and took the dogs out then off to bed went the kids and Rick. Sadie thinks I should be in bed now and is huffing at me. She thinks she can tell me what to do....most times she can but tonight I have good internet coverage and need to finish some things up in case it goes bad again...lol
I had a call from an old friend, Carey Baxley, who we had planned to visit while up here. He called to tell me his brother-in-law had died and he missed seeing us when we were in Charleston. Next trip he is going to give us another tour of Charleston, SC which we are looking forward to doing with him and his lovely wife!
Now, I don't know what we are going to do tomorrow but it should be great!

Heading out tomorrow

We are heading out tomorrow to visit Rhonda and Chris in Clayton. We spent a very quiet day here. We did take a trip into town and found 2 jars of JFG at FoodLion. Those who like JFG will know what it is ...the rest of you ....well, some things are best not known in a family....LOL
We found our route today on that short trip. Some times its better to recon in the car before you start out in the rv. The car is stowed on the dolly and ready. We won't leave until after 9am cause we figure most people who are pissed at having to go back to work on Monday morning will be at work by that time! Rick fixed biscuits and bbq chicken on the grill and baked tators. I made salads and got everything he needed ready and will do the clean up. Supper was good...yummmm
Not a long blog tonite because we didn't do much today but rest.

Charleston SC

Saturday is almost gone and we just kicked back today. Rode down to Beaufort and Port Royal. Also, drove near Edisto Beach. We went into a little road side stand that was selling locally made foods and produce. Got some great chicken salad here that we had for lunch,also, some berry cobber...yummm... I was looking for a sweet grass basket but we never did see one. We saw them in Charleston on the tour we took Friday. We went on Adventure Tours and the tour guide was very good. She knew quite a bit about Charleston even tho she was originally from IND. I didn't realize that Charleston has a college in the center of town besides the Citadel which is a military school that only allowed females to enroll in 1995. Pat Conroy, the author,went to the Citadel and based a book on his adventures. In the 1800's there was an earthquake and some of the buildings in Charleston became twisted so they put in rods to straighten the buildings up. Interesting history, not to mention that Fort Sumter sits in the harbor and was the starting shots of the Civil War. We didn't go to Fort Sumter. You have to take the water taxi and we didn't have time.
In my opinion the ONLY way to tour Charleston is by tour bus. The traffic was just unbelievable!! And the students on bikes had no qualms about riding out in front of the cars, bus, etc....crazy people I tell ya!! They also have a free trolley but you don't hear any of the history of the town. Oh one other bit of history I thought interesting is that Charlestonians like thing to "sound" nice and they re-name things to sound more pleasant. So they call the cemetaries "Gardens of Charleston". Did I tell you about the color blue that is called Haint Blue? The Gulla people were very superstious and believed that spirits couldn't cross water or heaven, depending on which city your in when you hear the story, and they painted their doorways and ceilings and window frames a color of blue that looked like water or the sky. Just a side note here. I didn't know this legend when I painted my ceilings a light blue, I swear!...LOL...
Now one more thing before I finish this entry and that is I am adding the names of places we've eaten at and gotten good food and service. Today that place was Gilligan's. It was again seafood which I love! Their address is:

The food was very good and the place was clean and our table was by the window so we could see the salt marshes. If your near this area they have several places so stop and try them!
Now, I am going to go lay down for a bit. The people next to us started a fire with the foulest smelling wood. I like to smell wood smoke but now my rv stinks and I hope I can get id of that odor! Yuck! So, I'm off to spray whatever I have to sweeten the air!...LOL

Finally, I can blog again!

This is our 3rd day traveling and I now have good internet service. The last place we were staying was Red Gate Farms Rv Park in Savannah, Ga. Nope, we won't be staying there again. We never did see any of the owners. Everything was done over the phone. It is a busy place so someone must like staying there. We weren't impressed, web pages lie....lol... We spent the day yesterday in Savannah on the tour. We saw Juliette Gordon Low's home, Ships of the Sea Museum and the Owens-Thomas Home.It was interesting and we learned alot about the Girl Scouts and their founder. She was almost totally deaf and died at 56 yrs of age. She accomplished quite a bit during her life. Girl Scouts will be 100 yrs old in 2012. The Owen -Thomas home was interesting and considered very modern for it's time. The home had flush toilets before the White House did and a "jack and jill" style bathroom for guests. 2 cisterns supplied the home with water to have running water and indoor flush toilets. Ok.. the up and down staircase here about did me in with this bad hip. The Low home had an elevator to go up 3 floors. That was nice!
It was so humid and hot in Savannah that I thought it was July and not October!! Savannah is a beautiful city but living there without ac must have been a nightmare! When we got to the river front district we were hungry. We saw a place called The Shrimp Factory and thought we'd try it. A nice gentleman standing in front gave us a $5 off card so in we went. We had a dozen fried shrimp that came with chicken flavored rice and the best salad I ever ate. Also, there were blueberry muffins and honey butter. The dip for the shrimp was honey mustard. All the dips and butter and salad dressing were home made right there....yummmmm.... The food and service were excellent. The meal was $15 each and we got $5 off the total price. Awesome place and much easier to get seated there than other places around town, like A Lady and Her Sons (no reservations after 9:30 that day) and the Pink House. We thought about trying Mrs. Wilkes place but decided seafood sounded better after all we were in Savannah!!
We had to walk 4 blocks to get to the car after going to the Ship museum. I was so tired when we got back to the rv.We took showers and were in bed by 9:30.....of course then I was up at 1am and then 3am and then 4:30 I just stayed up and played some on the computer.
That wonderful time we had in Savannah wasn't so wonderful today. I had several spells of throwing up about 8am this morning. I think I got too hot and was dehydrated and my body rebelled! Poor Rick he had to do just about everything with out help. I felt so bad that I couldn't do much to help him get us ready to travel again. But we are here now in a very nice rv park called Lake Aire RV Campground in Hollywood, SC. Rick is grilling chops and baked tators for supper and I am goofing off writing on the blog. We will be here till Monday when we head north to Rhonda's place.

Home again....in FL

We are home again. We visited the Sam Davis home on Sunday with our friend Sandra. She is an excellent guide. We drove in downtown Nashville and saw Music Row which is now called Music Square. We drove by the Wild Horse Saloon and by the huge stadium by the river. Sandra took us by to meet her Mom and sister and son. Very nice people and it was a lovely visit. Next time we go up there Sandra is going to take us up in the AT&T towers. We can't thank Sandra enough for being so giving of her time to see that we had a nice time! You are just awesome, Mz. Sandra!....LOL
We left Nashville on Monday morning and traveled down to Perry to stay at the same rv campground we stayed at going north. Nice place called Fair Harbor. I would highly recommend it to anyone. We left Perry on Tuesday morning and got home about 5pm. We were tired. Rick, bless his heart, has done all the driving on the trip and he drives good. He did enjoy sitting in the back seat while Sandra drove thru Nashville he said.
So, here it is Wednesday night and I am off to bed. Sadie is so glad to be home again.....lol

The Hermitage...

Today we had to get some Pet Armour for the fleas. Also, got some itch med for the dogs. Then off to visit Andrew Jackson's house. The property is beautiful. And thanks to some very smart ladies the homestead was kept intact as much as possible. We took the wagon ride tour and what a great tour that was. The wagon driver was also the tour guide. He told us so much about life at The Hermitage. It was a different time and different set of values. Jackson had 100 slaves and he rarely sold a slave. Usually they stayed on the plantation for their entire lives. They were allowed to hunt and had their own vegetable gardens and were allowed to sell some of their goods and have some cash. It was a very interesting tour. Well worth the money we paid.
So, not trusting Ursa anymore we tried to find our way to Publix for an ice lolly refill. We found a Publix!! Great to be in a store where we were familiar. And then on the way home we got lost again. Just because I remembered driving by a big building is no reason to go in a different direction around said building! ...yup! lost again!.... Finally, we found our way back to the campground and we had company waiting for us. My friend Sandra came to visit. Rick said let's go eat. Sandra said do you like Cheddars? Never heard of it but off we went. Awesome place to eat. I had ribs and shrimp. Rick had country fried steak and gravy. Sandra had fish with mango salsa. Then for dessert we had chocolate fudge cake with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream....yummmmm
We came back to the rv and visited for awhile. Made plans to go into Nashville tomorrow to play tourist. She is a great person. One you feel like you have known for yrs. Jones worked his magic on another female. Sandra was ready to take him home with her. He is such a smooozzzz with the ladies! It rained some tonight but today the weather was beautiful. Hope tomorrow is too.
Well folks, I am off to bed soon and wanted to say I am missing the family but having fun too!

Nashville at last!

We left about 10 this morning and traveled up I-75 to I-24 on our way to the new campground. Did I tell you that Ursa was untrust worthy?? Well, she is!! She took us to another closed road! Good thing there was a wide spot for us to turn around! She isn't to be used much anymore. I will go to map quest before we leave!....LOL
So, here we sit by a beautiful lake ....freezing! Yes, it is getting cold. In the 50's tonight and I dunno what is wrong with the heater! So, Rick and I will be snuggling.
Tomorrow we are off to be tourists again!

On the road to Nashville

We are spending this last night at the Koa here in Calhoune. Nice place if your ever in this area and want to camp. Today was a lazy day. We slept late and after breakfast went to the laundry to do the wash. It was interesting to sit in the office and talk to the people that came in to pay for camping site. We have some nice neighbors that sit up to camp today. They are in an Aliner camper and are here with a group. They came from NC for this group camping. Rick says you must have to be 80 to join the Aliner group....lol
So, after washing was done we came back to the rv and had lunch and a nap. Then off to supper at the Cracker Barrel. I wish our Cracker Barrel was as nice as the ones we have visited along the road!
Oh, one thing I need to tell you about. Last night we had a late visitor in bed with us. I was laying down and something cold and wet plopped on top of my hand. Not sure what it was I flung it off my hand and woke Rick up. The lights came on and Rick looked all over my side of the bed. Shook the pillows, look down the side of the bed.... every where on my side.... nothing! He found nothing so he laid back down and suddenly jumped up and yelled ...Frog! It's on the window shade. I'll catch it.... took him 3 tries but he finally caught the frog and threw it out the door. A friend of mine says...what did the hero of the frog hunt get in appreciation for throwing the frog out? I said...a peaceful night's sleep!....LOL...Good thing Rick loves me.
This is a short and uneventful entry tonight because it was an uneventful day.

One more thing!

The owner of the campground here told Rick to not wear his gold necklace because they have had too many guests get their chains ripped off when they go touring in the local cities. So, he has had to take off his snook fish..... bummer. He is so cute when he wears it too!!
